When you wake up in the morning
and find letters piled up against your door...and only
one of them is handwritten, which one will you pick
up first, and why?
The art of handwriting is dying out
due to our reliance on word processors and e-mail. We
find ourselves communicating through abbreviated, impersonal
messages.
The art of handwriting is a dying art due to the reliance
of the internet. This also creates shortcuts within
the English language, which in turn, creates an impersonal
message. Communication today does not have the emphasis
of the personal touch. Pen 2 Paper Inc clearly emphasizes
the power of the personal touch. Very rarely do people
write to each other at the moment and yet is probably
one of the finest and most powerful forms of communication
that we have been taught.
When I was a child and I had misbehaved and I wanted
to ride
my bike or go out with my friends but was not allowed,
whatever excuses my mind could muster, I would sit in
my room and write a letter to my Parents saying how
sorry I was and I love them etc It worked. I rode
my bike! And it worked every time!
Whilst watching a television program
a while ago, I saw a man being interviewed about the
effects of losing his children in the Bali bomb. When
asked if he felt the Government had taken steps to alleviate
his pain, he said no. He said he had received a letter
from a Government official but it was not sufficient.
The interviewer asked, but why? Well, said the man,
because it was typed.
